Zola is not generating "<" ">" and others symbols properly

Hi, I’m trying to use Zola for first time.

Well, as the title says. I’m trying to use the variable section.page directly to test and see my markdown parsed to html, but, somehow, some special characters are not parsed properly when I do zola build. I adjunt some screenshots.

My final output along the source generated:

index.html looks like a template. not markdown.

Show me a picture of your VS Code explorer with the files and folders in it.

You can likely use a few of the templates if they are there.
